Mapo Kkak Doo Gee Restaurant
Back in February I had to come by Joe’s office for something. I don’t remember what, but I do know I had to eat lunch by myself since he was in long beach still. Opportunity to try something I normally wouldn’t get a chance too! awesome.
I love hole in the wall restaurants, so I went to Mapo Kkak Doo Gee. A korean place in a tiny mini mall. About 6 parking spots in the place. Tiny and a bit annoying. But I had time, so i was digging it. I dig korean restaurants, if, for nothing else, all the little tasty sides that come with your meal.
i <3 kimchi
So, i got the kimchi pot. Bubbling, steaming, super hot broth with loads of strange veggies, noodles, some sort of meat in a kimchi broth. oh dear. my mouth is watering.
This place is not fancy. Tiny smooshed tables that barely had enough room for me to eat by myself. I don’t know how they would fit everything if there were to eat with someone. Service leaves something to be desired. Maybe because i’m not korean – i just don’t know how to handle needing/asking for something.
But it was good. Definitely a winter meal. that bowl was hot, and some of the veggies weren’t for me. But the noodles and broth were awesome, and i cleaned out all of my side dishes.
