not a minute to spare

warning: this post is a small montage of randoms – deal

* had another crazy dream. This time i was dressed as alice in wonderland, running around backstage with a friend dressed as captain hook at an old theater (it was playing Disney’s Beauty and the Beast), hiding from the Phantom of the Opera.

*family from Minnesota coming in tomorrow, then Georgia on Thursday. Things are gonna be nuts in the Swartz house!! But we are planning a few good meals, and, as always, a few blind taste tests. I know we’re atleast gonna be tasting plain (as in just salt) flavored potato chips and easily accessible store bought chocolate chip cookies. Results to be posted.

*vacation coming soon!!!! ahhhh! super excited to have a week away from the madness, especially so soon after the fam visits. Don’t get me wrong, it’s always fun, but you know how stressful/busy/crazy things get when these things happen. So we’re currently building my vacation spreadsheet, collecting information, gathering confirmation numbers, printing maps, entering data into google earth for transference into the GPS, etc etc etc. All to just lay by the beach and have some drinks. :)

Bridge cats – Part II

Posted in News/Culture, On the Road Again (Travels), thumba on May 28th, 2010 by admin – 2 Comments

so March 22 I posted about my bridge cats. whoa. I sound like a crazy cat lady if you don’t know what I’m talking about. In any case. They came back!!! I was so stoked when i noticed them that I had to take another picture. Thank goodness this one came out a bit better

Sadly – they were once again promptly removed.  I’m not a cat person, but these cats always make me smile on my way to work!!

El Borrego

Posted in Eating, On the Road Again (Travels) on May 10th, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

A few weeks back we went on a little dessert trip to Anza-Borrego.  Good Times.  A few old friends.  A few new friends. And a few very creative songs were born that need to be edited down and posted for all to enjoy.

The point – Saturday morning we drove into town before heading out to the second campsite.  Joe and I were ready early, so we headed out before everyone else and stopped at a little burger/taco place right before the circle – El Borrego Restaurant. A small joint with a side yard full of iron art – dinosaurs, horses, orangutans, mules, dolphins, etc etc etc.  Apparently the artist was hired to make some for the town, and is also selling then through the restaurant.  I kinda love iron art…

We stopped in and were the only customers there at the time (there are only about 3 tables inside, 5 on the patio, and a few more around the back). The gentleman working was really nice, despite our indecisiveness and changing our order quite a few times.  We can be quite the annoying patrons!!

Though the cheeseburgers were just okay (there has to be a minus for the sesame seed bun) the carnitas taco’s were super awesome!  So good in-fact that we ordered a dozen to take with us back to camp even though we had packed more than enough food.  The homemade jalapeno salsa was SOOO good and they served beer.   And the prices were moderate. Great little place.

By the way – by the time we were ready to hit the road, many more parties arrived – every table was taken.  I’m thinkin’ we’ll have to stop in again next time we’re around – who needs to pack food when we can just stop in and get a good meal there?!?!  more room in the cooler for jello shots! :)
